Highlights
1. Seeing the Grand Canyon (that's the Glen Canyon Dam-I mean dang-and the bridge which we drove over. Quite cool to see the gorge on the other side.
2. Seeing the Mesa Temple
3. Aaron had a good interview and liked ASDOH
4. Me being able to go to an interview
5. The beautiful desert scenery
6. Eating Starburst
7. Getting home
Lowlights
1. Driving 22 hours in a 48-hour period
2. The 2-lane highway in which buses and some semis think they are fast cars and won't let you pass them, even in passing lanes.
3. Keeping our eyes peeled open on the way back for deer darting across the road (happened several times)
4. Puking up my Taco Bell dinner in the gross Chevron bathroom (it's definitely grosser now!)
5. Trying to stay awake on the long drive home
So, here are the pros and cons of ASDOH:
Pros
1. They are one of the most technologically advanced dental schools and you can get laser dentistry certified
2. Students say the courseload is cake and so Aaron would have a lot more free time
3. They have a special needs clinic which is really good practice for that kind of work
4. It's located in a really new area and we could probably buy a house or a condo
5. Aaron could also get a Masters of Public Health at the same time
6. The students get a lot of practice and the guy who is over the dental boards works there
7. Very close to the Mesa Temple
8. They let you know within two weeks of your interview when you'll get accepted, if you do
9. It's only 10 hours away from home
Cons
1. Expense, not many scholarships available
2. Extremely hot
3. Not very close to many cool sites or cities or relatives
4. Doesn't have the 4 seasons
5. It's only 10 hours away from home
So we'll just have to see....only 1 month until the date of revelation folks!!

Word to the wise: Tufts Dental is one of the last dental schools to send out interview invites. In fact, they just recently started sending them out...

I am looking for about 7 more male pre-dental students for a study we are recruiting for. We also need 16 more female dental students. Here's the scoop:
Hello,
We are conducting a paid NATIONWIDE online research project with people training to enter healthcare professions. Here's who we need to complete the survey as of 2/4/08:
• We need male Sophomore, Junior, and Senior male pre-dental undergrads who plan to apply to medical or dental school or have already done so
• We need Female First and Second Year Dental school students
If you qualify to participate, you will be paid $75 to complete an online survey about career choices in the dental, medical, and nursing professions. At the end of the survey, you will be asked where you would like your compensation check to be mailed. Participant's responses and identities will, of course, be kept strictly confidential. Only group findings will be reported. Please be assured that no participants will be contacted by anyone as a result of participating in this survey.
The survey will only take about 20-25 minutes to complete online. We first need to talk with you briefly to screen you and to obtain your email address sothat we can send a link and an access code to enter the survey.
Note: Quotas are filling up fast and we are only getting updates from MRSI once daily. There is a chance you will not be allowed onto the survey if is full in your demographic, but it's worth a shot!
